ARI #: 1312010
Color:  Bay Black Multi
DOB:  7/28/2004

CONGRATULATIONS  to Kathleen McCaw of Walla Walla for her purchase of our half share of Comet.  For outside breedings to this remarkable Royal Fawn son, contact us for a referral to Kathleen.

Comet is a handsome 5/8 Accoyo, full Peruvian multi herdsire.  With coverage from nose to toes, he shears an amazing 10+ pounds, with a solid bay black blanket and bright white tuxedo neck and legs.

His sire is the famous PPPeruvian Royal Fawn, who sold for a record-setting $600,000 and whose breedings are now closed.  Comet’s dam is a multi colored beauty who has won numerous awards in east coast shows.

Comet holds himself proudly.  He passes on his dense bone, correct conformation, and perfect bite.

Comet’s fleece is bright, long, dense and fine with consistent crimp.  He’s taken blue ribbons in two fleece shows…***First Place Fleece PAOBA 2006***First Place Fleece OABA Alpacafest 2006***

Comet settles his girls like a gentleman.  His mellow personality is a joy to be around, and is also passed on to his offspring. We were delighted when Comet’s first four cria arrived, both solid and multi!  (The two fawn boys are the spitting image of their grandsire, Royal Fawn!)  All four are maturing beautifully, with incredible fleece, erect posture and the beautiful Accoyo head.  Comet has been put over a variety of girls and his crias are nothing short of remarkable!  Most solid, from white to black to fawn, all of them with perfect conformation, fine soft fleece and engaging dispositions!  Come get your hands on these yummy offspring!

As a direct son of Royal Fawn, Comet offers exceedingly rare genetics. Take your herd to the next level with breedings to this remarkable macho.

Drive by breedings considered.  Multi-breeding discounts.

Comet is proudly co-owned with  Jeff and Brenda Trammell of Enchanted Acres Ranch Alpacas in Benton City, Washington.

Ned Kelly

Stud Fee: $2500
ARI#: 824511
Color: White
DOB: 5/22/2001

It is with sadness and regret that we announce Ned Kelly's passing.  Ned died in March of lymphosarcoma.  As the last Hemingway/Benatton son, Ned leaves a legacy of great style, density and fineness in his many offspring and decendents.  We miss his macho presence on our farm every day.  Please contact us about his remaining outstanding offspring.

Like Father Like Son

While Royal Peruvian Haley’s Comet is skillfully accommodating a breeding, his two sons, ages three months and one month, are practicing their own techniques!

Sage Bluff has several promising juveniles in our 2012-2013 cria crop.
To inquire about any of these potential herdsires, please phone or email.

Breeding Protocol

We strive to provide the very best care for our guests. To protect your dam and our herd sires, your alpacas will be observed in quarantine for two weeks prior to breeding.

If you have special supplements you wish your alpaca to receive, beyond what we normally provide our own herd, you are welcome to bring those.

Seven days after your female has bred we’ll conduct a spit test. If the test is positive, an ultrasound will be done at 30+ days. Your female will be our guest for approximately 60-90 days. We want to make sure she is sound with cria before transporting her back home.

Our farm is BVDV free and we take every precaution to remain so. Below are the CVI (Certificate of Veterinary Inspection) requirements.

  • Negative BVDV PCR test.
  • Negative fecal within 10 days of arrival. Centrifuge spin only.
  • Please de-worm your female with IVEM two weeks prior to arrival.
  • Blood test done by veterinarian to ensure that your female is not anemic.
  • Negative vet check for mites on the body and ears.
  • Proven dams must have a vaginal culture done by veterinarian. Maidens not necessary.
